Anxiety has long been a part of my life, yet as a child I was just called a cry baby. It wasn’t until my daughter was diagnosed with anxiety at the age of 10 years old that I recognised what it was I’d been dealing with. From a young age I’d have ‘big feelings’ that I couldn’t quite explain and periods of anxiety have come and gone throughout my life, but something I’d hidden and dealt with alone. My daughter developing anxiety was what set me on the path to understanding this what anxiety is and importantly, what can be done to support someone.
Before kids I worked in PR & marketing, taking a career break when my youngest was born. Getting back into the workplace after five years was terrifying and so I retrained in social media management. Work just didn’t give me the joy it once had and so I started working with a mindset coach to help me build my business, but it actually gave me so much more. I loved being coached and learning how much control our mindset has, and importantly, what can be done to change it. Not only did it help me understand myself better, it also gave me a greater understanding of my daughter and the challenges she faced, as well as practical tools to support her. I therefore decided to train as a mindset coach with the world-renowned, Andrea Callanan.
I loved coaching, particularly women who had found themselves stuck in careers that no longer fit the lives they wanted for themselves. It was incredible to see them make real changes to their lives, but they often complained of feeling overwhelmed, stressed and anxious. I wanted to provide them with greater support. It was then that I found solution-focused hypnotherapy and was drawn to how gentle yet effective this therapy was, backed by extensive scientific research. I trained with the prestigious Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT Peterborough) and became a fully qualified Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist in December 2023.
During my training my daughter undertook a course of hypnotherapy and it was incredible to witness the difference it made to her. Anxiety can be debilitating, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Nor do you have to unpack trauma, relive it, and analyse it to be able to process it and move forward. There is another way to unlock a calm and confident future and I’d be honoured if you allowed me to support you in this process.
I am a member of the AfSFH, the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists and abide by its Code of Conduct, Performance & Ethics, and the requirement to meet ongoing standards via continuous professional development. I am also registered with the CNHC (Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council) for solution-focused hypnotherapy and hold an enhanced DBS.
